Around the Park: Hittin' the Road with Chesapeake Harmony Chorus

Baltimore, MD - September 8, 2016

It was a quiet Tuesday afternoon in the Newtowne 20 public housing complex in Annapolis. Residents were enjoying the weather, lounging together outside, all the while two armed security guards walked around the community. Unlike a police officer who might drive through on patrol or stop and talk with residents, these guards are on duty 12 hours a day, seven days a week.

The ‘Olympics’ of the singing world

Maple Ridge, B.C. - August 31, 2016

If you are a woman who loves to sing a cappella, there is a group for you. The award-winning Lions Gate Chorus is looking for new members to join the ensemble. The singing group is comprised of 80 to 100 members who compete in four-part a cappella harmony in the Sweet Adelines International Competition, held once every two years. The next competition is in October 2017, but the group is preparing for it now.

A cappella group seeking members

Prince George, BC - August 29, 2016

If the Studio 2880 windows are open tonight between 7 and 9:30 p.m., passersby will get wafted in the sweet sound of women's singing voices. Those windows are located right next to the door, and the door will be open for anyone who wants to come inside and try it out themselves. Tonight is the first rehearsal of the year for the White Spruce City Chorus, a chapter of the international Sweet Adeline's a cappella group.

Harmony North Chorus looking for voices from Collingwood/Wasaga Beach

Ontario, Canada - August 21, 2016

Harmony North Chorus may be just what you're looking for. The choir is holding a new member's month in September, beginning Sept. 7. There will be four weeks of free vocal lessons offered to any woman over the age of 16 who loves to sing, and wants to learn more.

The chorus is a dynamic group of 22 women, and is led by an equally dynamic and energetic director, Catherine Robertson.
