Naples, FL  March 16, 2011

Spirit of the Gulf Chorus. Geraldine Alexander

Picture Julie Andrews on Red Bull. That’s Sweet Adelines Director Karen Breidert, 57, as she punctuates the beat of “Too Darn Hot” with her hips, telling her 150 devoted disciples to “Sing it slimy!” as they rehearse for this Saturday’s performance.

Sweet sounds endure in Calumet area

Hammond, IN  March 13, 2011

Highland resident Hilda Kikkert loves harmonizing with members in the Calumet Corner Chorus Chapter of Sweet Adelines International.

They began with 22 members, a minimum requirement to compete in regional and international competitions. Kikkert remembers competing in the group's first regional competition in 1970 in Peoria, Ill., and winning the regional competition in 1976 in Chicago.  Read More--
