Emerald Coast Chorus presents 'Friends & Lovers' concert

Okaloosa Island, FL February 24, 2011

The Emerald Coast Chorus presents “Friends and Lovers,” its winter show, Friday night at the Emerald Coast Convention Center.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $17 at the door. This year there is a special student price of $10 for ages 6 to 18.

The Emerald Coast Chorus will entertain lovers of four-part male harmony with a series of songs based on the theme, which was chosen because Valentine’s Day was earlier in the month.

The chorus is an all-male a cappella group with more than 40 voices. According to its website, it is “dedicated to musical excellence and the preservation of the uniquely American style of music known as ‘barbershop.’"

Since its beginning in 1978, the Emerald Coast Chorus has become an integral part of the local arts community. They are the 2010 AAA District Champions, Sunshine District Spring Convention and also took third place at the same convention.

Paul Whittlesey directs the chorus. Visit emeraldcoastchorus.com for more information.

The chorus has invited groups from several area schools to perform on stage with the barbershoppers. They are: Chanticleer Chorus, Crestview High School; Chamber Choir, Rocky Bayou Christian School; and Camerata Chorus, Niceville High School.

The ladies Sugar Beach Chorus also will perform. Read More--
